DUDE
White. Male. Straight. My mom scraped by on her admin assistant salary to send me to private high school and college. I spent more than half of my life unaware of my privilege and did all the dude things along the way. Football, loud music, rabble rousing, bad behavior, ending lots of sentences with the actual word, "dude." Dude, I was all the things. Always a touch bro-hemian though with my poems, and wordz and things. I’m still a dude, I’m still bro-hemian, but I’m working to be the best dude I can be.
DAD
One boy, one girl and increasingly one young man and woman. I have nothing clever to say here other than I get to live in a home with my greatest teachers, joys, and pet lovers. I just reached that point as a parent where I’m on the other side of worrying if I’m providing them a good childhood. As they've reached full fledged adolescence, I’m enjoying being at peace with what was and being present with what’s hear now. One thing that hasn’t changed: the daily magic of watching life grow before your eyes.
PARTNER
I married my college sweetheart. You’re not supposed to say this anymore, but whatever, I married the quintessential cool chick. I married her decades ago only because I loved her, not because I thought she’d grow up to be the queen of her own beauty queendom. We were two kids from modest backgrounds sporting our modest undergrad degrees in NYC at age 22. We made it here, and we are sti l here. I’m far from perfect, but man what a ride to share a life with.
